Mushroom Pixie; earthier, perhaps less graceful variant of the pixie races.

In detail, mushroom pixies are very small (8" pixie = 6' human), very light weight even for their small size, and they are fragile but have some quite good regeneration abilities, see below for more. Note: Cyall's shape is not mushroom-like, only her biology is.

Build:
Cyall's human build has carried over to her pixie form: she has a small chest, big hips, and a moderate bust. She's actually pretty fit, living in the wild and hunting and gathering food for herself most of the time, but to look at you'd think she's a little soft.

Hair:
Golden-orange, fading to a golden blonde, wavy, and it only grows to barely shoulder-length. She never has it cut or styled because it's very difficult to style. The individual strandsare in nature fungal hyphae filaments. They clump together, frizz and curl, don't like being curled or straightened, and generally don't behave much like mammalian hair at all. The overall effect isn't bad though.

Skin:
Chocolate brown by nature, but takes dye like her hair but not so easily, and she doesn't like to experiment with her skin so much. Looks and feels slightly waxy like the skin on a mushroom's cap, but dye seems to dull this.

Eyes:
Brown irises with golden flecks which sparkle when they catch the light. They are otherwise structured like human eyes with white orbs and round black pupils.

Ears:
Very large, circular, and non-mobile, they look like the underside of a mushroom cap.

Wings:
Large clear insect wings mounted high on her back, 8" wingspan. Magic is not needed to keep her aloft.

Nutrient Absorption
She can absorb nutrients from mud and wet soil as well as eating and drinking. Good mud can supply all the particular vitamin-like things her mushroom-like biology needs, but she needs carbohydrates to keep her energy up and a little plant protein never goes amiss either. Animal protein is good when she needs to regenerate, but too much will make her ill.

Sense Of Smell
Good, (perhaps not quite as good as a canid's), but Cyall needs practice to identify more than what the weather is likely to do next. Yes, she can forecast the weather with her sense of smell, but only roughly and only what it'll probably do sometime in the next 5 or 6 hours. Another quirk of Cyall's sense of smell is that she likes rotting stuff & bad smells in general. This doesn't prevent her enjoying nicer smells at all, 'bad' smells are the smells of another source of nutrients to her.

Intelligence
As a human, she showed promise in math, science and engineering but ultimately underachieved for unknown reasons. She retains the knowledge she had but may struggle to put it to practical use. She's a little slow to pick some things up but gets other things so fast you wonder if she already knew them.

In-flight Coordination
Cyall has 2 nubs instead of a second pair of wings. These vibrate in sync with her wings providing a very accurate gyroscope for her to keep her balance by. She can not only maneuver sharply, she can appear to be standing, dancing, or walking on an invisible floor if she chooses, although she has to concentrate to do the dancing and walking well. Conversely, these nubs are her only balance organs so when she shuts her eyes or everything is dark she can't stand up.

Poison resistance
Fungi are generally hard to kill, as everybody knows. So is Cyall, with the exception that some parts aren't fungal (her brain in particular). Neurotoxins (nerve poisons) and hallucinogens will affect Cyall as badly as anyone else, and if they're airborne they'll affect her much worse than average due to her small size.

Fungal regeneration
Any part of Cyall's body except her brain can be re-grown at mushroom-growth speeds. She needs to be planted (quite literally) in suitably wet soil to do this if she's severely injured. Her wings regrow somewhat slower than the rest of her, taking 3 days instead of a maximum of 36 hours. Her heart and her lungs are included in this, fluids can get through her system by capillary action and even in the event of total lung loss can absorb enough oxygen from the air to avoid brain damage. (Being small helps in this latter matter: she has a much greater surface area to volume ratio than an equivalant human.)

High-level Communication Disability
Cyall has a degree of higher-functioning autism that has carried over into the Dream from her previous life. As a result, talking and listening are not the natural activities they are for most people and require some degree of concentration. She's had years of practice in the kind of concentration required, so she is of course very good at it, but the fact that communication is not as natural as breathing means she can be unwilling to talk when tired especially if she's been taking in a lot of information that day.

Absorbing toxins
If Cyall holds or is splashed with neurotoxins or hallucinogens she will absorb them through her skin. They can affect her very quickly like this.

Airborne toxins
Neurotoxins and hallucinogens in the air will affect Cyall more quickly than most beings, partly because of her small size & partly because of the way she absorbs things through her skin.

Balance in the dark
Her balance organs only work while in flight, and her only other means of balance comes via her sight.

Crushable
Most of her body is very similar in structure to mushroom stalks and as such can be fractured quite easily. Her brain is encased in a strong skull, but exactly how strong it is is unknown.

In most incarnations she is very warm and friendly and fairly uninhibited. These traits occasionally combine to make her an outrageous flirt.

Cyall is a friendly and fun-loving but somewhat troubled character. She likes to be outgoing, but in her human life was often too afraid to be so and the same goes for many of the other things she liked to do, too. Her higher-functioning autism puts a further damper on this, resulting in a pixie that may be very pleased to see you sometimes, but may avoid you many other times as she seeks solitude.

As a coping mechanism, she sometimes treats the Dream as if it were all in her head alone, and blocks out evidence to the contrary. This helps a great deal because she was actually too inhibited to function when she was human, but can be a problem when she treats literal danger as merely a product of her imagination. (The Cat has mostly been kind to her in that area so far.)

In the past, as a coping mechanism, she sometimes treated the Dream as if it were all in her head alone, blocking out evidence to the contrary. Friendship
She can be a difficult person to get close to, but she's more than willing to be a casual friend. If you chat about tech, nature, art, anything she's interested in that's not to do with her you'll be her friend for life, after a fashion. There's few things she's not interested in in one way or another so it's easy to make friends with her this way.

Lonely
She used to be painfully lonely, and as such values her friends as highly as she is capable of. She's still a little lonely but it doesn't really hurt any more.

Childish
She can get very childish at times, this is another of her coping mechanisms but one that she sees no harm in and even enjoys, she also hopes it brings enjoyment to others. If the situation calls for it she'll be more mature unless she feels hurt. She can flip between childishly clowning around and serious conversation at will, sometimes confusing those around her, and also she'll sometimes take something seriously with little outward sign of doing so.

Clarice Joanna Greenhorne grew up on a barely magical, moderately technological world called Earth, and hated it. It wasn't the world she hated, in fact she loved the woodlands and meadows that could be reached from her home; it was the complexity of life there that got her down. At least, it seemed to her to be complex because no matter what she did, no matter how hard she tried, she was always brought down, & if someone from one part of her life would praise her for something, another would tear her down for the very same thing. Escape was... always possible, but never wise, as far as she could work out, so she stayed where she was and buried her head in books and daydreams despite her father's berating them as worthless. The nearest she took to an escape was pretending to be a pixie on that world's planetary computer network. Then one day she got sick...

Waking up in The Dream, she believed it was just a fever dream in her own head and still academically thinks that might be the case. Nowadays though, she's become so used to living in The Dream that she never really thinks of it as anything but real.

Cyall tends to wander from one area to another often, and neither this nor her poor memory helps her make real friends. On the other hand she's very friendly by nature, so she's on good-aquaintance terms with around half the dreamers she's ever met, good evil and neutral alike. (There are a few traits of evil she can't get on with though, mostly at the insane end of the spectrum.)

Honey is perhaps Cyall's best friend, but she doesn't see her all that often really.

One only, but that one is ANNAMMU. However even if he wants her dead more than anyone else, she or her clone may well be his only path back into existence.
